Terminal de Contenedores de Cartagena S.A., one of the main companies in the Port of Cartagena Group, specializes in container handling and the provision of port and logistics services. It is part of the Caribbean logistics platform and operates with advanced technology to offer maritime and cargo services.

Logistics or Service Zone

Definition: Area where logistics companies, shipping agencies, customs brokers, and administrative offices operate. Location: Around the main port terminals, especially in the Mamonal area. Purpose: Facilitates the coordination of documents, transportation, and value-added services such as packaging, labeling, and quality control.

DOCK OR PIER

Definition: Structure where vessels dock to carry out loading or unloading operations. Location: Along the seafront of the port (main terminal area). Purpose: Allows direct access for cranes and handling equipment to move cargo between the ship and land. It is the first physical point of contact with the vessel.

Land Loading and Unloading Area

Definition: Designated space for trucks entering or leaving the port to deliver or collect cargo. Location: At the port's main access points, connected to national highways. Purpose: Facilitates the transfer of cargo between maritime and land transport (intermodality).

Port control and security area

Definition: Areas dedicated to access control, surveillance, monitoring, and port protection. Location: At port entrances and along its perimeter. Purpose: Ensures the security of personnel, cargo, and vessels in compliance with international security codes (ISPS Code or ISPS Code).

Customs Inspection Area

Definition: Controlled area managed by the DIAN (National Customs Agency) and other authorities to inspect goods entering or leaving the country. Location: Within the port's land logistics area, near the container yards. Purpose: Ensures compliance with customs, health, and safety regulations before authorizing the movement of cargo.

Maintenance and Workshop Area

Definition: Facilities for the maintenance of port equipment, vehicles, and containers. Location: Behind the container yards or within the port's industrial zone. Purpose: Ensures the continuous and efficient operation of the port's infrastructure and machinery.

Container Storage Area or Yard

Definition: Large open spaces used for the temporary storage of full or empty containers. Location: Behind the docks, in the landward section of the port. Purpose: Organizes and maintains containers before shipment or after arrival for inland clearance.

Maneuvering Basin

Definition: Area of ​​water within the port where vessels maneuver to dock or depart. Location: In front of the docks, within the internal maritime channel. Purpose: Allows for the safe movement of vessels assisted by tugboats and pilots.

General Cargo Warehouses

Definition: Enclosed facilities used to store non-containerized or high-value goods. Location: Near container yards and port access roads. Purpose: Protects goods from weather conditions and allows for safe sorting and clearance.
