INTRODUCTION
Good morning. My name is Danae Sánchez Pino, and I am a student in 3rd year of ESO A. Today, I am going to talk about a very important and sensitive topic: Anorexia Nervosa.
This presentation aims to raise awareness about this serious eating disorder, which affects both the physical and mental health of many people around the world. I chose this topic because I believe it is essential to understand the causes, symptoms, and consequences of anorexia, as well as the importance of early detection and support for those who suffer from it.
Throughout this presentation, I will explain what anorexia nervosa is, discuss its main psychological and social factors. Finally, I will share some ways in which we can help prevent this disorder. I hope this presentation helps you better understand this condition and encourages empathy towards those affected by it.

INDEX
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by restricted food intake, resulting in significant weight loss that remains below the minimum expected for the patient's age, sex, or developmental stage, sometimes leading to severe malnutrition.
This weight loss is caused by the patient themselves, through a decrease in food intake, which is often accompanied by weight-loss behaviors such as self-induced vomiting, use or abuse of laxatives and diuretics, or intense physical exercise.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF THE ANOREXIA NERVOSA?
Psychopathological symptoms such as states of sadness, anguish, irritability, or social isolation
Internal fear of gaining weight
Due to extreme thinning, some physical signs appear, such as dry and rough skin, hair loss, and loss of menstruation for at least three consecutive cycles, in women
Body image distortion or seeing oneself as fat despite being very thin
The personality of these patients is usually characterized by perfectionism and high standards in their lives, which is accompanied by low self-esteem.
Weight loss below normal levels leading to malnutrition
INDEX
WHAT ARE ITS COMMON SYMPTOMS?
- Body image distortion
- Malnutrition
- Digestive disorders
- Lack of calcium
- Biochemical alterations in blood
INDEX
WHAT ARE THE COMPLICATION OF ANOREXIA NERVOSA?
- There are a number of medical complications and physical risks associated with severe malnutrition such as digestive disorders (due to binge eating, vomiting, use of laxatives)Heart problems (due to malnutrition), biochemical alterations in the blood (low potassium or sodium), endocrine or hormonal changes, and lack of calcium in the bones.
- In this regard, a higher frequency of bone demineralization and osteoporosis has been demonstrated in girls with anorexia. This osteoporosis causes adolescent girls to have bone demineralization at the same level as a woman of 50 to 60 years of age.

How is anorexia nervosa diagnosed?
These are patients who generally do not initially seek help voluntarily, but rather come to the professional's consultation through parents or teachers, when the process is already established. The following steps are taken to establish the diagnosis:
- Diagnostic interview.
- Rule out organic disease using magnetic resonance imaging, general and specific analyses and evaluation by other specialists (endocrinologists).
- Psychodiagnostic tests.
Treatment is carried out by a team of various specialists, usually led by a psychiatrist or child psychiatrist. The following steps should be taken:
WHAT IS IT TREATMENT?
1. A weight recovery plan and dietary and nutritional re-education

5. Pharmacological treatment with antidepressants and other psychotropic drugs that improve the symptoms of anxiety, sadness, and impulsivity underlying vomiting behaviors and treat other problems associated with anorexia.
CONCLUSION
In my opinion, this project has made me reflect on this illness, especially on the psychological impact it can have. Just thinking about how people who suffer from it can be affected by society (in most cases) and how it impacts their lives is very moving. Most deaths from anorexia are due to suicide and heart conditions because, like other illnesses, it can take over your life, and living with it is very difficult, even overcoming it.
I loved doing this project because it helped me learn more about this illness and understand how many people live with it today.
