How Do Changes in Temperature, Sunlight, and Water Influence Living Things?
A Science Investigation by Student's Name
Essential Question
How do changes in temperature, sunlight, and water influence living things, especially plants?
Investigation steps:
Ask: How do sunlight, water, and temperature affect plant growth?
Predict: Which plants will grow best?
Plan: Keep the test fair by using the same type of seed, soil, and container for all groups.
Observe: Measure plant height, color, and number of leaves every few days.
Record: Track all observations using a data sheet in your online science journal.
Analyze: Compare how plants in different conditions grow.
Conclude: Explain what plants need to stay healthy and how environmental changes affect living things.
Objective: Students will conduct an experiment to find out whether plants need sunlight and water to grow and how temperature affects this growth.
This is where you will include the data from their online science journal. We will print them out in class.
What we will do in class: -Plant four sets of identical seeds in small containers. -Place and water them under different conditions -Observe and measure the plants over two weeks -Record results in our online science journals -Discuss how sunlight, water, and temperature affect growth.
Measurement tools:
-Ruler -Thermometer -Measuring cup -Water dropper
Technology Tools:
-Google Sheets -Google Docs -Laptop Camera (Provided by the school, photos taken at school)

Example Conclusion: Plants with both sunlight and water grew best. Cooler temperatures slowed growth, showing that temperature, sunlight, and water all influence how living things grow.
example Summary statement
Living things, like plants, depend on sunlight, water, and the right temperature to grow and stay healthy.
