What is volunteering?
“A volunteer is an individual who freely, selflessly and responsibly commits to performing volunteer work within a promoting organisation, according to their own abilities and in their free time.” (Jacinto, L. M. J., 2020)."In a more emotional way and making a more affectionate connection to volunteering, some authors present the volunteer as a relevant example of civic participation, since people who volunteer contribute their time and effort to solving problems in their communities, to alleviate the suffering of others, that is, to improve the human condition of their communities." (Jacinto, L.M.J., 2020, as cited in Snyder et al., 1998; Snyder e Omoto, 2009; J. Wilson, 2000, citados por Martins, 2013).

Conclusion
As Mother Teresa of Calcutta said: ‘What we do is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be smaller if that drop were missing.’ Being a volunteer is much more than having a kind heart. It's about making a commitment.’ (Jacinto, L.M.J., 2020, as cited in Fernandes, 2011). Thank you for your attention.
