What is sonification?

What is sonification?

The process of generating sound from any sort of data to represent their information as audio

When we make a sound to inform about something we are applying a sonification system. We represent data in the auditory field. We turn data into sounds, these data usually can be representing anything that can be expressed in numbers: a physical measurement, a notion, an action or the vectorial tracking of a sequence of values from a sensor.

SOUNDSCAPES Summer School 7-12 July 2024

Soundscapes summer school seeks to familiarize teachers in building and applying sonification environments through the use of programming, electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, etc. Teachers participating in this summer school will support and foster the global maker and European Citizenship values, by promoting the sharing of projects, challenges and solutions between the transnational participating groups.

Soundscapes in GREECE

2nd High School of MetamorfosiThrough the sounds, the students realize how Odysseus will reach Ithaca from Ogygia, always keeping the Big Dipper in his left hand. They compare the sounds of two constellations, Orion and the Big Dipper, and orient themselves by choosing the sound of the Big Dipper.
Ellinogermaniki Agogi Primary School A creative team project by the 5th Grade students, as part of the Skills Workshop: “Mars, the red planet”.Improvisation based on the sonification of the Solar System and the Big Bear (Ursa Major), as seen from the sky of Mars. Our theme: a 6-month journey to the Red Planet.
