Join ideas in a sentence

FANBOYS are the seven coordinating conjunctions in English: For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So. They are used to connect two ideas (clauses) that are equal or independent. When joining two independent clauses, you must use a comma before the FANBOYS word. --- Example: I wanted to dress up as a monster, but the costume made me feel unease. (Two complete sentences joined correctly with a comma and β€œbut.”)

Another example

Example: I wanted to go for a walk but it started raining. --- Tip: If what comes before or after the FANBOYS isn’t a complete sentence, don’t use a comma.
