VPN, antivirus and secure cloud are essential.
2FA
Authentication
Two-factor authentication protects each access.
Glossary
- VPN (Virtual Private Network): A technology that creates a secure, encrypted network connection over a public network, such as the Internet. It allows data to be transmitted confidentially and securely, protecting the privacy and integrity of information.
- Encryption: The process of encoding information so that only authorised persons can decipher and read it. It transforms data into an unreadable format to prevent unauthorised access.
- Malware: Malicious software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's consent. It includes viruses, worms, Trojans, ransomware and spyware.
- Firewall: A network security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic according to predefined security rules. It helps protect a system or network from unauthorised access and external threats.
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) / Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): A security method that requires users to provide two or more separate proofs of identification before gaining access to an account or system. This adds an additional layer of security beyond a simple password.
- Cloud Storage: A data storage model in which digital data is stored on remote servers accessible via the Internet (โthe cloudโ) rather than directly on the user's device.
- Biometric Authentication: An identity verification process based on unique biological characteristics, such as fingerprints or facial recognition.
- Password Manager: A software programme that securely stores login credentials (usernames and passwords) for various accounts and can also generate complex and secure passwords.
- IP (Internet Protocol): A set of rules governing the format of data sent over the Internet or other network. An IP address is a numeric label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses IP for communication.
- Log (Activity Log): A chronological record of events occurring within a computer system or application. It may include information on access, file changes and other events relevant to security and monitoring.
