A modalidade atingiu o seu auge com Nelson Évora, principal nome da história do triplo salto português. O seu sucesso impulsionou a visibilidade da modalidade no país, levando a um maior interesse por parte dos jovens atletas e mais apoio por parte das instituições desportivas. Atualmente, o triplo salto continua a ser uma das disciplinas técnicas em que Portugal aposta, com novos talentos a surgir e participação regular em competições internacionais.
