- For students who show interest in a particular subject
- Passing AP exam with 3 or higher can provide college credit
- Credits transfer to many in-state and out-of state institutions
- Open Enrollment with AP Contract
- Weighted Grade
- Standards set by the College Board
- Costs $25 for standard-fee public school students and $0 for fee-reduced students for most exam in Kentucky ($95 regular price)
AP Scholar
College Prepared
Students are provided with more challenging content and deeper understanding.
Advanced
Students more through material or grade levels more quickly due to demonstrating mastery early.

Advanced course work
These are advanced courses for students who show an interest in attending a college or university. Passing the course provides students with college/university credit. ALL grades go on college transcript. Standards are set by the college issuing the credit. There are sometimes pre-requisites for courses. Students will need to study, be organized, work hard, read the syllabi, and communicate with their professors.
- Money - Dual Credit scholarships available
- Location - On-campus? On-line? Local or state travel?
- Credit Transfer - Kentucky schools; Check test credit equivelencies for schools
- Cost - ~$97 per credit hour; KEES $ can be used

Students don't have to be interested in going to college to take advanced and accelerated classes. The courses help advance serveral post-secondary interests.

Consider if the school is in-state or out-of-state. Consider the time demands of the student to determine how many to take at once. Consider costs. Consider transportaion.
DC vs. AP
Use the WEHS registration book to be aware of what advanced/accelerated courses are offered and when they are offered. The registration book is updated yearly.

Section 21
Requires that the service delivery options for students identified as gifted and talented in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science include opportunities for advancement and/or acceleration at each grade level and subject area.
- Parents or guardians can give written consent to withdraw or exclude a student that is eligible for advanced coursework according to the district plan from that advanced coursework.
