Zones That Make a City Work

Cities are made up of different zones, and each zone has a special job. Residential zones are where people live. These areas have houses, apartments, and parks. Families spend most of their time in residential zones, and they need to be quiet, safe, and close to schools and stores. Commercial zones are for shopping and business. These areas have stores, restaurants, and offices. People go to commercial zones to buy food, get haircuts, or work in buildings. These zones are often busy and full of people during the day.

Industrial zones are where things are made or stored. Factories, warehouses, and shipping centers are found here. These zones are usually away from homes because they can be noisy or need lots of space. City services like fire stations, hospitals, and schools are placed where they can help everyone. These services keep the city safe, healthy, and educated. Zoning helps organize these areas so cities work well. It keeps homes peaceful, businesses busy, and factories safe. When planners design a city, they use zoning to make sure everything is in the right place.
