Vera's Challenges The power of wind

This month we will explore the power of the wind. Vera challenges us to conduct an experinment , to observe wind in nature and to build a windvane to measure the wind.

Don't forget to take photos of the activities and post them to twinspace.

Conduct the experiment

1. Experiment : Seed race

We will need three seeds with different maze and weight. You can make seeds with paper, playdough or use real ones. Let the children find out ways to move their seeds without touching them but using the power of wind. They can use papers, their breath, hairdryers... Take photos of the process and come to a conclusion. (Use the given worksheet)

2. Observe the wind in nature

Get out of the classroom and observe how the wind reacts on nature. Take photos of trees, flowers, flags, clothing, hair..... and upload them in twinspace.

3. Build a windvane

Construct a paper windvane as shown in the video and measure the wind in your area. From which country our Tiny Seed should start his journey? That would be the country with the strongest wind!

4. Earn the science badge
