The aim of these activities is for students to revise and reinforce the basic rules for Present Perfect and show them the differences between Past Simple. The activities are designed to show multiple situations in which Present Perfect is used. The students get a lot of mixed practice to help them familiarize with the contexts as well as practice practical use of this grammar. Depending on your needs, pick the activities that suit your lesson plan to help the ss. Most of the activities are self-explanatory and are designed to provide self-assessment. Each activity has instructions for the ss under
* Test it 1 / 2
* Quick context overview
* These 2 sets of gapped sentences test ss' understanding of the rules. It's a self-assessment activity so the ss can do it individually or in pairs - altogether 30 examples.
* SS/T click the images and ask the questions about ss' experiences. Focus - Have you ever .... - ss answer the questions. Depending on the answer, ss continue the conversation or not. - the exercise is supposed to familiarize ss with the context of Present Perfect * Time Perspective slide - T shows ss the time axes in order to demonstrate the difference between Past Simple ad Present Perfect
* Time expressions
* It's a review exercise where ss try to figure out the meaning and the use of the time expressions characteristic for Present Perfect. It's perfect for individual or pair work and helps ss figure it our on their own. * Follow-up - the next slide contains the context sentences where ss need to put the expressions in and they can see how they are used in context.
* Past or Perfect
* This activity helps ss familiarize with the context of Present Perfect by contrasting it with Past Simple. Ss choose between two verb forms that match the context of the sentence. It can be done as a pair work exercise or whole class where ss discuss their choices with the T.
* Pair work - interview
* This activity gives ss a chance to interview their friends and talk about their life experiences which later they can refer back either in a written or oral form. There are 2 slides to pick from: Student A and Student B. Each slide contains different ideas and a piece of space to make notes and write down the answers.
* Past or Perfect - decide
* Ss see the sentences with gaps and need to decide what tense goes where. It's a perfect exercise to help ss spot and understand the differences between the tenses.
* Correct it 1/2
* These activities help ss develop their language awareness and spot the grammar mistakes in the context.

There are 2 slides to pick from: Student A and Student B. Each slide contains different ideas and a piece of space to make notes and write down the answers.
