Start a New Chat in the Gemini web app or mobile app. Before entering your prompt, look for the Deep Research button or toggle (often found near the bottom of the chat interface or under the Tools menu). Click the button to activate the mode and enter your research prompt.

Deep Research is available in 2.5 Flash for Google Workspace for Education Editions and is available in 2.5 Flash and 2.5 Pro with the Google AI Pro Add On.

Working with the Report

Once complete, the final report is a comprehensive document that can be immediately leveraged:

• Review: Examine the plan's proposed steps (e.g., "Step 1: Identify historical context," "Step 2: Compare legal precedents").

• Refine: Click Edit plan to make specific changes. For an educator, this is crucial for limiting scope or specifying the desired source type (e.g., "Add a step to find remediation strategies for common student misconceptions").

• Approve: Once approved, Gemini executes the plan and begins the multi-step browsing process, which runs even if you navigate away from the chat.

The Report

Export: Use the Export to Docs option for a one-click transfer of the fully formatted report to your Google Drive as a Google Doc or copy the text to paste.

Create: Generate an engaging podcast of your research findings or use the power of Canvas and coding to develop your own app using the information generated.
