Anchor

An anchor is an introduction to a projecct that provides a relatable connection from the project to authentic situations that may happen outside of school.

Task

A task narrows a focuses project work by providing a specific item to complete. Assigning a task can help students complete the desired outcome of the project.

Directions

A task shows students where to go, directions show students how to get there. Directions help students stay on task and make progress. Directions should explain to students how to proceed with the project and what items must be addressed.

Student Choice

Tasks and directions should allow for some student choices. Students can make choices on what steps to take to complete the project, roles and responsibilites, resources to use for information, and what format to use.

Student Inquiry

Student Inquiry involves the process of the students finding and evaluating information from books, websites, or other resources.

Collaboration and Teamwork

Students work in groups to complete a task. This allows students to learn leadership skills by assigning and following up on responsibilities, seeking information, making a plan of action and doing other group activities.

Teacher Coaching and Feedback

The teacher provides guidance and evaluates the students' projects. The teacher coaches students on what they can improve or how they can better meet the requirements.

Student Reflection

Students reflect as a group and individually. Students reflect on how to best proceed with the project and their contribution to the group.

Public Presentation

Students present their project to convey their knowledge and findings. The presentation provides as an authentic assessment opportunity.
