What Are Nature-Based Solutions (NbS)?

Effective stakeholder engagement is not just about inviting people to a meeting or collecting signatures of attendance. It’s about creating genuine spaces for participation — spaces where rights holders and stakeholders can actively shape decisions and outcomes.

Nature-based solutions are actions taken to restore, protect, and sustainably manage natural or modified ecosystems.i They offer a way to simultaneously address environmental emergencies and human well-being, and to achieve sustainability.In cities and other settlements, nature-based solutions can be cost-effective ways to restore ecosystem service delivery, reduce pollution, and make settlements more environmentally friendly and resilient to climate change impacts.ii
