Start a New Chat in the Gemini web app or mobile app. Before entering your prompt, look for the Guided Learning button or toggle (often found near the bottom of the chat interface or under the Tools menu). Click the button to activate the mode. The AI's responses will now follow the Socratic methodology.

Use Gemini 2.5 Flash for fast, high-volume tasks, and Gemini 2.5 Pro for complex reasoning and advanced generation.

The Socratic Response

When a learner asks for a solution (e.g., "Solve this multi-step algebra problem"), the Guided Learning mode will NOT simply provide the final answer. Instead, it will:

• Break Down the Problem: It will start with the first step or principle needed.

• Ask a Probing Question: It will immediately ask the learner to define a term, explain a concept, or predict the next step ("Before we begin, what does the term 'variable' mean in this context?").

• Offer Hints and Scaffolds: If the student gets stuck, it provides tailored hints rather than giving the solution.

Need help understanding a particular PDF or Google Drive attachment? Include the document in your prompt and ask Guided Learning to "help me understand this document or file." Gemini will then break down the content and guide you through the key concepts.
