step five: training execution

Once you've put in the work to prepare a training, the time comes to release it to your end users! Below are a couple of key things to keep in mind at this juncture of your project.

  • L1 support - Who is responsible for assisting learners if they become stuck?
  • Community management - Who is responsible for responding to comments and questions shared in course and or Path forums?
  • Capture and store feedback with the future in mind - Remind your team what feedback to capture and where/how to record it to ease future updates
  • Monitor stats and share them with key business partners - Be prepared to pull metrics and create reports that speak to their intended audience
  • Delegate the responsibility of ensuring completion rates - Train your coaches, managers, and/or Path instructors how to monitor training and hold learners accountable
  • Take advantage of reminders - Enable automated reminders for Paths and add email steps to create automated pings - let the platform help keep learners accountable

Having a system for capturing and organizing learner feedback is key. Be kind to your future self by proactively recording feedback throughout the training's availability. This will help greatly during the training's subsequent update cycle.

Keep in mind...

step six: refine, rinse, repeat

Establishing how to keep training scalable and up-to-date should be part of your overall process! To help, keep the considerations below in mind.

Plan the next update-and-review cycle ahead of time

  • Set a reminder in your calendar that aligns review-and-update cycles with the training's expected lifespan and/or related internal processes
  • Avoid an overlap with other company projects and be prepared to pivot
  • Don't let it be a surprise to your collaborators, especially reviewers and IDs
Scalability of training and accountability
  • Recurring training? Enable automated re-enrollment based on the last time the learner completed the Path or certificate status
  • Were there any platform roles not used previously that you are now ready to introduce/add? Loop the associated team members in, enable them to use their platform tools, and create accountability points
Don't just update--enhance and expand where you can
  • Challenge yourself and your team to improve the learner experience in at least one way with each update cycle
