What does it mean to be courageous?
Courage is another word for bravery. They call me Courageous Cody because I am brave in hard situations. There is someone in history who is also known for being courageous.

Do you remember reading about Malala Yousafzai? She is a courageous woman from Pakistan. She has two brothers, a mom, and a dad. Malala's dad was the principal at her school when she was a kid.
Why is Malala known for being courageous?
Just like Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai won the Nobel Peace Prize. She was given the award in 2014 for her courage and work to help children around the world go to school.
When Malala was younger, a group of soldiers started taking over her city. They made many mean rules. One of their new rules was that girls could not go to school.
