The Crime

the crime

On February 27 2021, 19 year old Brian Cohee told his parents he needed some air. He took his car and drove around, that is when he saw Warren Barnes, a homeless man sleeping under a bridge. Brian stopped the car, got off and stabbed Warren on the neck repeatedly.Brian cut open Warren's abdomen to "see his organs", cut off his head arms and hands. Brian decided to take Warren's wallet, head and hands as a throphy and hid them in his closet.

Corrections

Cohee is now in the state prision Buena Vista Correctional Complex with medium security, located in Buena Vista, Colorado. This ties diretly to courts because they follow the sentence given by them

Cops- Law Enforcement

The night of the crime, police officers were called to the Colorado river. Brian's car had slid down the boat ramp and he could not get it out, his parents were there and the car was almost completly in the river. Hours later when the police found a tow truck and the car was pulled out of the river they saw blood on the bumper of the car, but there was no suspision of a crime. On March 1 2021, Terri Cohee called 911. She said she found a human head and a pair of hands in a backpack inside Brian's closet. An hour later the sherriff depities arrive at the Cohee family house. Brian was arrested there. During the interrogation he confessed to the crime and descrimed it in great detail. with absolutely no remorse (This interview ties directly to courst since is part of the evidence used against Cohee in the trial)

Courts

Cohee was charged with first degree murder (druing the interview he confessed he had been thinking about killing someone for 6 months, which ties directly to law enforcement), and tampering with a deceased body and evidence (it ties directly to law enfocement from the bag of evidence and the interview). He plead not guilty by reasons of insanity. The procecution argued this because in his own confession he does not show any signs of not knowing what he did was wrong, in fact is clear he knows what he was doing. He was found guiltly and sentenced to life in prision without the posibility of parole (This connects to corrections since he will be incapacitated)
