FRENCH MATES IN REINOSA NEWS – WEEKEND

On Saturday the weekend at the Tres Mares Refuge in Alto Campoo, we all, French and Spanish students and teachers spent an afternoon together playing board games. The activity was designed to break the ice and create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. By sharing games, time, and laughter, students began to get to know each other and build the first connections between both groups.

On Sunday, we enjoyed breakfast before going on a snowshoeing route. For the French students from Sarzeau, it was an enriching experience. We learned to identify animal tracks in the snow, appreciated the natural heritage of the area, and ended the day with a warm hot chocolate.

FRENCH MATES IN REINOSA NEWS – DAY 2

We started the day with presentations about our regions. Then, we joined a workshop on sustainability and enjoyed a fika, a relaxed Swedish tradition. Later, we did a photo gymkhana around Reinosa to explore its historical heritage and created posters to promote cultural tourism. For us, it is important to combine natural and physical activities with historical and cultural heritage.

We visited the historic village of Santillana del Mar, where students acted as tour guides and explored its cultural heritage. We also visited the Altamira Neocave, a UNESCO World Heritage site of great artistic value. The day ended with a climbing wall activity, combining physical activity with historical and artistic heritage.

Today we danced to encourage creativity, body expression, and teamwork, followed by the “Emboscados” workshop, a scouting-inspired activity focused on some outdoor skills, responsible fire use, and sustainable environmental education.

In the evening, some teachers from IES Montesclaros invited French mates to have a natural walk around the area. It was really nice!

On the final day, we went on a nature walk to two historical landmarks important to Cantabria: the pre-Roman settlement and the castle in Argüeso. Afterwards, we shared a fika at the canteen, completed an SDG challenge called “Factivism”, and closed the experience with the diploma ceremony.

POLISH MATES IN REINOSA NEWS – DAY 1

Spanish and Polish students met in Reinosa for an Erasmus+ mobility hosted by IES Montesclaros. After an official welcome, they took part in the sustainability challenge “The Cosmic Egg,” combining environmental awareness and creativity by building a recycled artefact to protect an egg from a high drop. They later shared a Swedish-style fika and completed a photo-gymkhana around Reinosa, using responsible ICT tools to design a promotional poster that highlighted the town’s local historical heritage.

Spanish students leaded Polish, as if they were touristic guides, around the historical and artistic heritage of the region with a visit to Santillana del Mar, a key example of medieval architecture and cultural legacy. They also visited the Neocueva de Altamira and the Museo de Altamira, linking creativity with World Heritage values through the study of prehistoric art. Rob, Art teacher from Gdynia, contributed a technical and sociological approach about the cave art and its cultural meaning. The day concluded with a climbing session at Rocódromo de Escalada de Torrelavega, promoting healthy self-competition and cooperation, as students challenged themselves while encouraging each other.

POLISH MATES IN REINOSA NEWS – DAY 3

Spanish and Polish students began with a coordinated folk dance that challenged them to cooperate in a fun and synchronized way. They then took part in an outdoor creative sustainability workshop in Parque de las Fuentes titled enBoscados, based on the Forest School methodology, where they learned through nature-based activities that foster respect for the environment, teamwork and creative problem-solving in characteristic rural surroundings.

Students enjoyed a wonderful day in Santander, exploring its maritime heritage and coastal landscape. They walked through the port area, had a picnic at Muelle de Gamazo, and continued along Península de la Magdalena and El Sardinero. The highlight of the day was a sailing session in the bay, combining sport, teamwork and nature sensitivity while experiencing the unique blend of urban and bay surroundings.

On the final day, students joined the Factivist workshop, linking sustainability, technology and critical thinking around the SDG. They also played an SDG board game with Leyre del Carmen from the Universidad de Cantabria. After a farewell fika and an energetic biking race. The mobility ended with a formal certificate ceremony. The afternoon is theirs — enjoy it, everyone!

Gdynia is located on the seashore of the Baltic Sea. It is grouped with Gdansk, such a very relevant town in History, and Sopot into the Tri-City area, in Northern Poland. Gdynia got bigger during the 20th century, thanks to factories and port activities. It is pleasant in summer, but cooler in winter, so you should bring a jacket.

VISITING NAVAL MUSEUM – GDYNIA

Students visited the Naval Museum in Gdynia to explore the intersection of History and Technology. This experience highlighted the rapid evolution of naval engineering over the past century and sparked reflection on how progress must remain sustainable and aligned with human rights. By learning from the past and embracing innovation responsibly, our students gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities shaping the future.

VISITING EXPERYMENT CENTRE

THANKSGIVING FEAST

Learning by doing! Spanish and Polish students experienced science at the Experyment Centre in Gdynia, reflecting on how innovation should create a better world for everyone. Progress matters most when it is inclusive, sustainable, and guided by values like democracy and empathy.

Students celebrated Thanksgiving. The activity promoted socialization and mutual understanding, highlighting respect, the value of sharing, and the memory of traditions that connect diverse communities. Through this experience, students reflected on how diversity strengthens European identity and common values.

GDYNIA NEWS – DAY 5

UNIVERSITY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, GDANSK

Spanish and Polish students visited the University of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk to learn about the Neurofeedback EEG project, which trains astronauts to reduce stress during space missions. Using real-time brainwave monitoring, this research helps manage isolation and improve well-being in environments like the International Space Station.

ESKILSTUNA TIPS

Eskilstuna is a welcoming city in central Sweden, surrounded by lakes, nature and green spaces. Its safe environment and relaxed lifestyle make Eskilstuna an ideal place for secondary school students and families taking part in the Erasmus+ programme.

ARRIVING ESKILSTUNA.

After leaving Bilbao, we arrived in Eskilstuna with a mix of nerves and excitement. Everything around us felt new: the language, the landscape, the climate and the daily routines. Despite the initial uncertainty, we were full of curiosity and enthusiasm, eager to learn, to share experiences and to discover a new culture. This journey marked the beginning of an unforgettable Erasmus+ experience.

ESKILSTUNA NEWS – DAY 1

On the first day, students took part in creative activities. In the music class, everyone played the drums, even Nuria, the music teacher. Later, during the cooking class, students prepared traditional sweets, which they all shared together at the end of the day.

ESKILSTUNA NEWS – DAY 2

Spanish and Swedish students focused on creativity and sustainability. They joined a textile workshop using recycled materials and visited ReTuna Återbruksgalleria, the first shopping center dedicated to reused products, where they collected materials for a project. They also played mini-golf, promoting healthy and inclusive competition, and visited Munktellmuseet, dedicated to historic Volvo engines and machinery.

Spanish and Swedish students visited Stockholm to explore its history and cultural heritage. They toured the historic center and learned about key landmarks and events that shaped the Swedish capital. The visit fostered intercultural understanding and appreciation of Sweden’s rich past.

ESKILSTUNA NEWS – DAY 4

Spanish and Swedish students took part in a tote bag workshop using recycled materials collected the previous day. They worked with sewing machines and developed their creativity while designing and producing their own sustainable bags. In addition, they participated in a virtual reality beach-cleaning workshop, raising awareness about environmental protection and marine pollution.

ESKILSTUNA NEWS – DAY 5

On the final day, Spanish and Swedish students took part in outdoor activities despite the cold weather, strengthening teamwork and resilience. The mobility concluded with a diploma ceremony, celebrating their participation, learning experience, and shared achievements.
