A voice whispers from the attic. It claims to know the ghost… but its memories are fragmented. Choose carefully: only one answer will awaken the echo of the past.
Something went wrong… or someone saw you.
Shadows insist on coming out... Go back… if you still can.
01
Listen closely… it’s is short for it is or it has. If you can expand it, use the apostrophe. its shows ownership and never takes an apostrophe. Quick examples:
- It’s colder near the nursery. (= It is)
- The mirror lost its silver backing.
02
After responding to the voice, a dusty mirror reflects something that isn't there. The silhouette of the ghost seems clearer... but it still doesn't remember its name.
Something went wrong… or someone saw you.
Shadows insist on coming out... Go back… if you still can.
02
The mirror fogs over. Letters scratch across the glass by an unseen hand—names without faces: children · men · women. The ghost’s voice trembles, verging on the edge of hysteria...
Something went wrong… or someone saw you.
Shadows insist on coming out... Go back… if you still can.
02
Some plurals don’t end in s—children, men, women—so give them ’s: children’s, men’s, women’s. Plurals that do end in s take the apostrophe after the s: witches’, guests’. Examples: the children’s footprints; the men’s coats; the witches’ brooms.
03
The tables creak. The voice echoes again, clearer, more human. Each response seems to return a fragment of his story.
Something went wrong… or someone saw you.
Shadows insist on coming out... Go back… if you still can.
03
The voice echoes again, but seems to be fading into nothing... hardly even human. Each response seems to be trying to say something.
Something went wrong… or someone saw you.
Shadows insist on coming out... Go back… if you still can.
03
The voice seems to be nothing more than a whisper... like the wind blowing through the cracks of a doorway...
Something went wrong… or someone saw you.
Shadows insist on coming out... Go back… if you still can.
It’s = it is / it has. If you can expand it, use the apostrophe. Its (no apostrophe) shows ownership. Plural that ends in s → add ’ after the s for possession: ghosts’ footprints. Irregular plural (no final s) → add ’s: children’s room, women’s lanterns. Singular owner → add ’s: the house’s door, the ghost’s diary. Model line: It’s clear the ghosts’ story is hidden in the children’s nursery. Common traps (all wrong): Its (as a contraction), ghosts’s, childrens/childrens’, children’. Memory charm: If it ends in s, place the mark after s; if it doesn’t, add ’s.
