pH Power Point
Create a PowerPoint about the pH scale with a minimum of 15 slides. There must be 1 slide for each number of the pH scale (0-14). Each slide must contain: -the pH number -indicate whether that number is an acid or a base -an example of a substance that is that pH with a picture of the substance -an explanation of what it means to be that pH number (concentration of H+ or OH-).
Ocean Acidification Classkick
Complete all of the slides on the Classkick. Download the PDF and upload it to the dropbox OR type "Check Ocean Acidification Classkick" in the text box.
Experiment
*****YOU MUST HAVE YOUR CARETAKER'S PERMISSION, WEAR SAFTEY GLASSES AND PLASTIC GLOVES FOR THIS OPTION!!!**** Use 5 SEPARATE plastic cups from your STEM kit to gather 1-2 tablespoons of 5 different liquids (1 LIQUID ONLY PER CUP - DO NOT MIX THEM) from around your house. Predict if the liquid is an acid or a base. Use the pH paper strips in your STEM kit to measure the pH of each liquid. Create a PowerPoint presentation of your findings. Each slide should include: -name of the liquid -picture of the liquid -your prediction of the pH value -picture of the pH strip used to test the liquid -the measured pH value -identify if you were correct with your prediction of acid or base
Element Dating Game Classkick
Complete all of the slides of the Classkick. Download the PDF and upload it to the dropbox OR type "Check Element Dating Game Classkick" in the text box.
Research
Choose your favorite meal. List the ingredients of the meal (minimum of 5 ingredients). For each ingredient, you must write the name, draw or copy/paste a picture of the ingredient, give its pH, and indicate whether it is an acid or a base. Write a 3-5 sentence reflection about what you learned and anything that surprised you about the pH values.
Vocabulary
Hand-write the words and definitions for all 33 vocabulary words for module 3. Upload pictures of your work to the dropbox. Click the link below for the list of words or look in the Student 1 Stop Shop (round Resources button).
