What is privilege?
- Afforded and granted by construction of race, gender, etc.-Unearned opportunities people didn't need to work for
Forms of privilege
- Class privilege- Upper class gets the most benefits even if it isn't earned
- Educational privilege- In order to have a stable job you need a college degree
- Racial privilege- White people automatically are given opportunities because of skin color and not merit
Harms of privilege
- Exclusion: groups are given les opportunites and segregated from the rest
- Injustice: groups are then treated unfairly which can cause to society as a whole
- Isolation: minority groups are then seperated from the rest of society with no access to the opportunities of the other groups
