Failure

Mystic Artifact 5- Mystic Sword and Shield

I failed during this project by waiting til the last minte to finish proofreading and writing my reflections.(Like I am doing right now) I feel rushed and I do not like how some of the stuff I am saying sounds, but I am going to push past that. I failed by using Prezi and corrected that failure by then using Genially. Because of my failures I have grown, learned, and succeeded. Without failure there is no success, because if you don't fail then that means you didn't try.

Creativity

Mystic Artifact 1- Golden Wand

For the next 3 days post assignment all I did was brainstorm how I could make a project that stands out. I originally had the idea to make a Pokemon inspired game because I grew up on Pokemon and still love it. After starting to create it on Prezi, I realized it wasn't going to work. So I had the idea to make my own game. I then found a new website to make it on. I used my creativity in evey step of this project. I sometimes sat and thought about what theme the level should be or what the Artifact should be for 5-10 minutes. I'd write down ideas and narrow them down until I found one I liked.

Confidence

The GooseChase Experience

During the GooseChase we were tasked with the option of dongn a variety of hilarious tasks. I didn't have to do all of the tasks, but I chose to do as many as possible. In fact I think I did every task except for 3 of them. What I learned about confidence is that it all starts with the first step. Looking at the prompts, I didnt want to do tasks. I felt that nervousness you feel when you are about to present in class, play in that big game, or talk to that one person. The thing I learned is that it is always scary until you take that first step. I once heard this saying, "A ten thousand mile journey begins with one step". Confidence works the same way.

An intimdating task might seem like a long journey, but as soon as you take that first confidence-fueled step, you are halfway there. Confidence also works best when you have someone there going through the same difficulty. For me my friend Alex was there. We did some GooseChase tasks together and having him made doing all the silly and embarrasing things so much easier. Of course it is important to develop confidence when you are by yourself, but you know what they say, "Teamwork makes the Dreamwork".

Confidence

Mystic Artifact 3- Crown of Confidence

One of the hardest parts of this project was the time commitment. Coming up with ideas, reflections, perfecting the animations, and proofreading takes up alot of time. I am also a pretty social guy, so I had to build up the confidence to say no to plans and continue working on what I said I would work on so I can complete the vision I had at the start. Adding on to that, choosing a project that I knew would take alot of time and making something super different than anything I have ever made before took confidence. I am venturing into an unknown area for a high stakes price... my grade (Dun Dun DUN).

Curiosity

Mystic Artifact 2- Crystal Lense

When starting the project I realized that my original presentation website, Prezi, wasn't going to work. So, I did some research and found a new website, Genially, the one I used to make this game. Part of curiosity is sharing what you find on your curious endevors. I shared my idea and website with some friends and told them they should also use it. I helped them brainstorm ideas for what they could create. I think sharing your curiosity is what makes learning so fun. I am glad I helped my friends create something they can be proud of.

Failure

It is impossible to succeed without first failing time after time. In my life I have failed countless times. I have missed the game winning shot, strayed away from my morals, and fallen short of my goals. For the 10 days of creatvity project I had such an amazing vision. Duringthis project I failed four times. I wanted to make a mock-up clothing brand just like I have seen people do online. My first failure - thinking it was going to be easy. My second failure was letting one day of the assignment go by with the mindest of "I'll just do it later". My third failure was getting lazy and not doing half of the days of the assignment, and that laziness spread to some of my other classes. Finally my fourth and final failure was getting the assignment done, but in a rushed way that did not fit my original vison in the slightest.

My 10 days of creativity poster(Click to enlarge)

After I realized that I was falling behind in school and that it was reflecting in my grades, I changed my actions to get back in the loop. I failed and because of that failure I am doing better in school than I was before. Failing is good, you can only learn and grow from failure. (click arrow to continue)

Curiosity

This might be a little off topic, but my dad told me something that resonated with me. He said that in the middle of his career, when he was rapidly advancing his career, one of his bosses said to him. "Dave, the reason I think you will end up being so succesfull and helpful is because you are curious" He told me that because he would ask questions and really want to understand how things worked is how he got to where he is now, a place higher than his peers at the time. This taught me that curiosity is the most underrated tool in life.

Curiosity comes in many different forms. It can come from starting a show and wanting to learn more about a refrence that was made, from having a conversation with your friends, and sometimes curiosity comes out of the blue. The biggest thing I learned from the Curiosity unit was that you cannot force it. I was on a call with my dad before I did the Genius Hour assignment, and I was telling him that I didn't know what to research. He gave me a bunch of ideas, but I wasn't feeling any of them and it felt like I was going to force the research. We ended up just regularly talking and I told him I wanted to buy an electric guitar. After that conversation I started wondering how electric guitars even worked, so I chose that as my topic for the Genius Hour. When I say that an hour of research has never flown by so fast, I mean it. It seems like when you are genuinely curious about something, the research, the project, or whatever it might be just feels easeir to do.

Creative Confidence-Mentor Video

The part that stuck out to me the most about this project didn't have anything to do with me taking a risk in the making of my video, but rather the interview I had with my grandfather. He said something that stuck with me. "If you are making 100% of the shots you take, then that means you are not shooting enough." I will further impliment this idea into a later quest. My video is down below. (To continue quest press arrow on the right)

In this project I was supposed to pick an audience and make a video that makes that audience want to use their creativity and turn it into creative confidence, all while using the advice from my interview. I chose highschoolers as my audience and made a video in the style of a 'Tik Tok Edit'

I was honestly kind of scared to make a video that wasn't going to be like the usual submissions. I tried to be as creative as possible and use as many visual effects and refrences without the video looking sloppy.

Resiliency

The ability to encounter and overcome adversity over and over and over again is probably one of the hardest and most valuable skills a human can possess. Resiliency is aboutmore than pushing through physically, it is about pushing mentally. You will get your will beaten down, but only if you can brave the heat of the desert will you find yourself in a better place. For the Rube Goldberg assignment my group met many challeneges. It started with wondering what we avtually were going to do, then what supplies we needed, then then how we were going to set the contraption up, and finally the challenges with the dominoes always falling, the pool balls always rolling away, and tape not sticking. We pushed through and found a soloution. Funny enough, later that day I went to play basketball with some of my friends. After an hour of intense game play one of my friends wanted to throw me a lob so I can dunk it and send a video to my dad just as a fun little check up. It took us probably 25 attempts. Jumping back to back like that after intense games was incredibly tiring, but I remember what we learned about resiliency and I pushed through. I even got a video and the only time I made it is when I shouted out ESP 103!

Resiliency

Mystic Artifact 4- Sacred Scarab

Unexpectedly, I probably felt that my most used trait was resilency. Every single image and graphic on this presentation was created by Gemini AI from prompts that I made. Whenever there was an image that didnt match the vison I had in mind I would change the prompt over and over. I pushed through the frustration of waiting a couple miutes just to see that Gemini copied the exact image that I told it to change before, or when I had a creative block, or when I was too tired and didn't want to work on the project, and all the other flaws that Gemini AI has. I pushed through and finished the project.(Click here to see Gemini Chat)->
