ASthma Learning Guide
Benny's Breathing Song
Sammy's Spacey Puff
Ellie's Red Rescue
My name is Benny the Bear.Sometimes my chest feels tight or squeaky,And breathing might get fast or creaky. That’s called asthma, it’s okay, My lungs need help some days, that’s all — hooray! I have a puff that helps me breathe, It opens up my airways, see? I take a breath in nice and slow, Then out it comes — I’m good to go! Asthma’s just a part of me, Like your freckles or my fur. With care and love and puffs just right, I sleep and play and feel so light!
Sammy the squirrel was quick and small,He loved to skip and climb and ball! But sometimes wheeze came huff and puff, So he used his spacer — that magic stuff! He clicked his inhaler, one, two, three, And puffed through the tube so easily! In goes the medicine, nice and slow, Breathe in deep — out it will go! Now Sammy can scamper, laugh, and play, His spacer friend helps every day! No more wheeze, no rough and tough — Just happy breaths and spacey puff!
Ellie the elephant loved to play,Running and laughing every day. But sometimes her chest felt tight and tough, So Mom said, “Time for your red puff!” Her red inhaler was shiny and bright, It helped her breathe and feel just right. Puff, puff! — went Ellie’s spray, And the wheezy sound went far away! Now Ellie knows, when air feels tough, She just remembers her red rescue puff! Breathe in deep, breathe out slow, And off she goes — ready to go!
