The Flotilla: more than ships, a moving armada ready to dominate the seas.

The mission known as the Global Sumud Flotilla is an international humanitarian operation composed of dozens of boats from various countries, with the goal of breaking the naval blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip and delivering aid: food, medicine, and essential goods, to the civilian population of Gaza.

In recent days, the flotilla was intercepted in international waters by Israeli forces, who took control of the vessels, seized communication equipment, transferred the activists to detention centers, and later deported them.
Reports that have emerged describe humiliating treatment, interrogations, restricted communication, and the confiscation of personal belongings, including direct testimonies from some journalists and activists who were involved.

In her public statements, given after being deported to Greece, Greta described the experience as “violent and humiliating.” She explained that the activists were handcuffed, blindfolded, and kept in overcrowded cells, with very little food and water
Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist, took part in the Freedom Flotilla, a humanitarian mission headed to Gaza. After the flotilla was intercepted by Israeli forces, Greta and the other activists were arrested and detained.

The demonstrations were not limited to Italy. Across the world, from Istanbul to Madrid, from London to Paris, sit-ins, marches, and moments of solidarity were organized to denounce the situation in Gaza and to demand an end to the violence.

Sbordone for Gaza!
Our school, the Sbordone, also wanted to take an active part in this initiative. We organized a demonstration inside the school, with flags, posters, and a large banner hung at the entrance as a symbol of solidarity. It was a highly attended event, joined not only by students but also by the principal and several teachers, who said they were happy and proud of the initiative, recognizing its educational and human value.
