WHat is the problem in our Oceans?

Our Oceans are under attck. Those who inhabit them, are experiencing habitat loss, and loss of nursury locations.

Causes

  • Oxygen Loss,l temperature increase, and Acidification
  • Plastic Pollution
  • Overfishing

Solutions

Investing in nature-based solutions to climate change

MiMitigate climate change and destructive fishing habits.

This is a problem caused by the abundant use of fossil feuls. This forces species to leave their habitat and find somewhere more suitable, safer, to live. With the increase of water temperatures, the water has become more acidic, some shelled species (like Crab. turtles, and Lobster) have begun to experience shell melting.

Overfishing is a serious issue. Now, this is similar to the Idea of poaching. Though, people aren't killing just to kill, in this case they're killing for food. However, this poses a threat because when it's done at higher rates, the numbers of certain species will become so low that it's almost impossible for them to repopulate at an efficient rate.

Plastic pollution poses a real threat to the wildlife that inhabit it. Despite low levels of garbage ending up in the ocean, it's enough affect the life.

  • Sea turtles- Plastic found in intestinal tract -->Choking hazards
  • A quarter of fish in California coats found with plastic in their intestines.
  • In seabirds, plastic reduces size of stomach, most die of starvation.
  • Marine Mammals are at higher risk of getting tangeled in debris, increases levels of endangerment.
