To make your application stand out, follow the checklist below of items that can help you increase your odds of success.
1. Check Your Inbox
If you applied for a job and haven't received a confirmation email, first check your spam or junk folder. Also, double-check that the email address you used in your application is correct and doesn't have any typos.
2. Follow Up If It's Been a While
If you haven't heard back about your application after a long time, consider following up directly with the Human Resources (HR) department. You can find contact information on the Arlington County Government website. It's a good idea to reach out via email or phone to inquire about the status of your application.
5. Track Your Application Status
You can check your application status through your portal on Arlington County VA Careers. By clicking on Manage My Profile, you will be able to see all positions you applied for and one of the three statuses: Application Received, Application Reviewing, Application Accepted/Denied.
Thank you for your patience as we carefully review applications.
We understand that waiting for updates or decisions can be stressful, and we truly appreciate your understanding during this time. Our hiring process involves several manual steps, including application screening, interviews, and background checks, and does not use AI automation. As a result, timelines may vary depending on the role and the volume of applications received. To help you stay informed, we’ll send status updates at key points throughout the process. You can also check your application status anytime by visiting our careers page: https://www.arlingtonva.us/jobs. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to us at recruitment@arlingtonva.us. We’ll do our best to respond promptly!
3. Contact the Right Person
When you reach out, be sure you're contacting the right person or department. The Arlington County Government website has a contact directory that can help you find the correct office or individual within Human Resources to send your inquiry to.
