Scratch Pay: A Client Financing Solution

WHAT IS SCRATCH PAY? Scratch Pay is an additional financing option available to our clients. This financing option is loan-based, requiring only a soft credit check of the client. For each loan, repayment plan options are presented to the client, allowing them to choose the option that works best for them. These options include 6-month, 12-month, and 24-month financing, offered to eligible applicants. For an overview of Scratch Pay, click the photo to the right.

Important Disclaimer: While it is only a soft credit check, the repayment status of the loan will still be reported to credit bureaus

CLIENT APPLICATION Similar to CareCredit, clients can easily apply online. The application takes roughly 90 seconds, and they immediately know if they are approved for the funds or not.

If the client is approved, your clinic will be notified via email, and then their plan will be displayed on your clinic’s dashboard, where your team can finalize the plan.

FAQS Q: How is Scratch Pay different from CareCredit? A: One crucial difference between Scratch Pay and CareCredit is that Scratch Pay is a loan, with the approved amount being specific to one transaction, and CareCredit is a credit card. Scratch Pay can be used more than once by a client, but each loan must be approved for use. A.1: Scratch Pay is a soft credit check, while CareCredit is a hard credit check. This means that applying for Scratch Pay will not impact a client’s credit score, while applying for CareCredit can. However, repayment status is reported to credit bureaus from Scratch Pay, so if a client does not pay according to their selected terms, it could impact their credit in the future. A.2: CareCredit’s provider fee for AOSN clinics is less than the Scratch Pay provider fee. This should not deter teams from presenting the options, but is helpful for clinics to understand.

Q: Which option do I offer clients? A: It is never a bad idea to provide clients with both options when discussing finances. However, it is important that teams understand the differences between the two options to help educate clients when they are considering either option.
