A gruta de Chauvet é uma gruta paleolítica conhecida pelas pinturas e rachuras rupestres no teto e nas paredes. A gruta conta com aproximadamente 1000 pinturas e gravuras rupestres.
Está localizada em Ardèche, França.
Foi descoberta em 18 de dezembro de 1994 pelos espeleólogos franceses: Jean-Marie Chauvet, Christian Hillaire e Eliette Brunel-Deschamp. Logo quando a gruta foi descoberta, as autoridades francesas tomaram medidas muito cuidadosas e eficientes para protegê-la pois é um local muito apreciado e faz parte da cultura francesa.

A Caverna de Lacaux é uma caverna paleolítica situada no sudoeste da França, na região da Dordonha. Lascaux tem cerca de 600 pinturas rupestres pré-históricas. A maior parte das pinturas são representações de cavalos, mas também podem ser encontrados outros tipos de animais. A gruta foi descoberta em 12 de setembro de 1940 por 4 rapazes que estavam a investigar o local onde o cão de um dos rapazes tinha caído.
