What is a Desert

  • A desert is a ecosystem that is a dry area that gets less than 10 inches of rain each year
  • The desert can mostly be described as mostly hot and sandy but deserts can be cold and arid
  • Deserts have very little plant life due to lack of water

  • Deserts are not always sandy they can be covered in ice or rocky

Parts of the desert

  • Biotic Factors: Cactus, snakes, fennec foxes, lizards, and camels
  • Abiotic factors: Sunlight, water, temperature, air, and soil

the flow of energy

  • The energy in a desert flows from the sun which is recieved by the plants through photosynthesis
  • Then is transferred to consumers when they eat primary, secondary, or tertiary consumers
