WHAT DID SHE ACcomplish

Despite suffering from serious health problems, including a bus accident that left her in pain for most of her life, she continued to paint and express herself through her art. Her work often showed her struggles, her Mexican heritage, and her feelings about identity and womanhood. Frida’s unique style mixed realism with fantasy, and she became one of the first artists to bring Mexican folk art and culture into the global spotlight. Today, she is celebrated not only for her art but also for her strength and individuality.

When Why

Frida Kahlo started painting after she was seriously injured in a terrible bus accident when she was 18 years old. The crash left her with many broken bones and injuries that caused her pain for the rest of her life. While she was stuck in bed recovering, she began to paint to pass the time and express her feelings. Her parents set up a special easel so she could paint while lying down. Frida used her art to show what she was going through both her physical pain and her emotions. Many of her first paintings were selfportraits because she spent so much time alone . Painting became a way for her to cope with her suffering and to tell her own story.

Frida Kahlo became famous in the late 1930s and early 1940s, when people around the world started to notice her unique and emotional style of painting. Although she began painting after a terrible bus accident in 1925,. Her first solo show was in New York City in 1938, and it helped her gain attention from other artist.
