Examples: about /ษ™-BOUT/ - the "a" makes the schwa sound taken /TAY-kษ™n/ - the "e" makes the schwa sound pencil /PEN-sษ™l/ - the "i" makes the schwa sound

Sometimes vowels can make the schwa sound in different parts of words

Why itโ€™s interesting: The schwa sound is fun to learn because it helps us understand so many words we use every day! For example: the word BANANA has schwa sounds - buh-NAN-uh ๐ŸŒ or FAMILY becomes FAM-uh-lee ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ. When we say LEMON it sounds like LEM-uhn ๐Ÿ‹ or ABOUT becomes uh-BOUT ๐Ÿ’ญ. The word TAKEN sounds like TAY-kuhn โœ‹ or PENCIL becomes PEN-suhl โœ๏ธ. Fun Fact: The schwa sound always sounds like "uh" but can be spelled with any vowel letter! ๐Ÿ”ก It's like having a sneaky sound that hides in different vowels! โœจ๐Ÿ“„

Grammar: Possessive Pronouns

What are Possessive Pronouns? ๐Ÿ‘‘

Watch the following video and learn more about Possessive Pronouns

Possessive pronouns are words that show ownership or that something belongs to someone! They replace nouns and tell us "whose" something is. Examples: ๐ŸŽฏ Instead of saying: "That is Sarah's book" ๐Ÿ“š We can say: "That book is hers" โœจ Instead of saying: "This is my dog's toy" ๐Ÿ• We can say: "This toy is his" ๐ŸŽพ Common Possessive Pronouns: ๐Ÿ“ mine ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ (belongs to me) yours ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ (belongs to you) his ๐Ÿ‘ฆ (belongs to him) hers ๐Ÿ‘ง (belongs to her) ours ๐Ÿ‘ฅ (belongs to us) theirs ๐Ÿ‘ซ (belongs to them) Quick Tip: ๐Ÿ’ก Possessive pronouns never need an apostrophe! They already show ownership all by themselves! ๐Ÿšซ's Example from our story: "Pixie's favorite grapes" could become "Those grapes are hers!" ๐Ÿ‡
