3 Key Concepts for Successful Counts
In the video, we identified the 3 foundational practices for organizing your inventory items:

3. Keep labels forward facing. Try not to cut through the identifying labels.

2. Push items to the back of the shelf. Products should all touch the rear edge.

1. Store like items per row. Front to back, all items the same. Stacking is ok!

A Row = one kind of item lined up in single-file from the front of the shelf to the back: Mustard with mustard, katchup with katchup. If you can't fit all products into one row, you can:

  • Create a new row with the remaining items.
  • Stack them if space allows and the labels remain visible.
  • Move them off-shelf and use the app's adjustment functions to add them to your count.

Wow, it seems this wasn't your day... but don't give up! Every attempt is an opportunity to learn more

  • Shelf Labels are placed below the associated item, under the bottom-left corner.
  • Shelf Labels must be scanned first! This tells the app what it's counting.
  • Scan from right to left to register all items while counting.
  • Shelf Labels are placed centered below the associated item.
  • Shelf Labels must be scanned first! This tells the app what it's counting.
  • Scan from left to right to avoid mistakes.

Remember the Inventory Basics: One item per row. Don't store differently labeled boxes or loose items in the same row. The #1 cause for incorrect counts are incorrect storage habits.
