  • Present one clue at a time.
  • Have students identify a possibility for the clue and share their thinking with a partner.
  • Solicit and record student solutions for the first clue.
  • Discuss how each of the solutions relate to the clue.
  • Present the next clue. Direct students to identify a new solution or explain why their first solution still satisfies the second clue.
  • With the class, eliminate the original numbers that no longer satisfy the two clues.
  • Solicit an record new solutions.
