Sports in Motion

Goals

I can explain how objects push on each other and possibly change shape when they collide. I can plan and conduct a demonstation of how a push and pull changes an objects motion.

Vocabulary

What forces can you see?

Archery

Goal Try to get your arrow past the line. Questions -What type of force are you using? -What happens if you use more force? -What happens if you use less? -When the arrow collides with the ground what happens?

Responsible archers -only point their arrow at their target -use their bow and arrow appropriately -waits to collect until all archers have finished

Soccer

Goal Get your ball into the net. Questions -What type of force are you using? -Can you use a different force? -What happens if you use more or less force? -When the ball collides with your foot what happens?

Responsible soccer players -only use their feet -use their ball appropriately

Bowling

Goal Knock down as many pins as you can. Questions -What type of force are you using? -What happens if you use more force? -What happens if you use less? -When the ball collides with the pins what happens?

Responsible bowlers -waits patiently -use their ball appropriately -only takes two turns at a time

SplatBall/ Corn Hole

Goal Toss your ball or bean bag at the target. Questions -What type of force are you using? -What happens if you use more or less force? -When the ball or bean bag collides with the target what happens?

Responsible players -only throws at their target -use their equipment appropriately -waits to collect until all players have finished

Mini Golf Challenge

Goal Design a golf course that will allow a ball to change direction before rolling into the hole.

Constraints

Criteria

-Only have the time set for station to build and test.-No more than 20 blocks can be used.

-Ball must change direction at least once-course must be designed so the ball cannot roll out. -Must be possible for teammates to play.

Responsible golfers -use their equipment appropriately -waits patiently for their turn -encourages other golfers

Athletes are responsible & show good sportmanship
