Hello everyone! Today, we're going to become digital detectives. Your mission is to explore the real-world websites linked on the side. As you click through each one, analyze its structure and design with these key questions in mind:
  • What is a website? (Think about its overall purpose.)
  • What makes a good website? (Note what works well and what doesn't.)
  • Is a website different from a webpage? (Form your own hypothesis.)

After analyzing the three real-world websites, you will complete this challenge: Click the link in the box below to find your assigned group. In your groups, create a concept map in 5 minutes that showcases five characteristics of a well-designed website using Padlet or Canva. The first two groups to finish will receive a reward. Upload the link to your concept map on Google Classroom and list your group members' names.

Give yourself a hand you have been doing good so far. Now that you understand what a website is, it’s time to build your own using Google Sites. Please watch the step-by-step video below, follow along on your computer, and design your website.

Class Activity

You have been good so far give yourself a round of applause. Now you will continue working in your groups to apply what you have learnt throughout the lesson so far:

Group 1

Create a multi-page functional website for a food court using Google Sites. Your website should consist of at least three pages and include advanced features such as: an embedded Google Form that allows customers to place a food order an image gallery showing the different types of food the food court offers internal navigation menus and a consistent theme and design layout. Once you are finish publish your website and copy and share the link in the google classroom.

Group 2

Using the provided Google sites template, you will create a simpler two-page website for a gaming lounge. You will enhance the design by including additional text, images, hyperlinks, and a clear navigation menu to ensure accessibility and functionality. Once you are finish publish your website and copy and paste the link in the googe class room.

We’re now coming to the end of today’s lesson. In our next physical class, you will present your websites and explain the design choices you made. After each presentation, your peers will review your website and provide feedback using a checklist. Once all presentations and reviews are completed, you will take the ProProfs quiz.
