The Three Key Components
Check-ins: Short surveys for students (and teachers, if you choose) that encourage self-awareness and help everyone learn to identify and label their emotions. Results give insight into how students are feeling and their readiness to learn.
Explicit Teaching: Dedicated lessons, resources and activities focused on creating a positive classroom culture and building personal and social skills. These support the introduction and regular use of switches, and help foster a safe, connected environment for all students.
Switches: Quick, evidence-based strategies and activities to help manage emotions, either on your own or as a group. Switches are mapped to specific emotions and include lesson plans and explanations for why each strategy works.
