After replaying the details in your mind, you look up to see the Chateau coming into view. You see a large man standing waitingfor you on the steps. "Welcome, "he says with a broad smile. "General Zaroff?" You ask. "Not exactly," the man replies. "I am more of a spiritual successor to the great General. I am Rainsford!" You recoil in shock at hearing this. "What kind of trick is this? Why did you call me hear?" You demand. "To hunt you of Course." Rainsford says with a wry smile. You never see the dart that shoots from the dense forest, but you immediately feel the effect of the sedative as you lose consciousness.

You awake in a dungeon that is apparently underneath the chateau. You are still reeling from the revelation that Rainsford has taken on the role of General Zaroff. How could he possibly do that after what he went through? As you survey your surroundings, you notice a piece of parchment on the wall.

This new location seems to be nothing more than the entrance to the hunting grounds.in front of you is an unstable looking stone bridge that crosses an expansive chasm. you begin to turn around, but the sun has already sunk behind the trees, and you can here the dogs barking in the distance. The hunt has begun. You look down and proceed forward.

next

As you step on the stone bridge, it cracks under your weight. Fortunately, you react quickly enough to jump to the other side before the first half falls in to the abyss.

next

You stand there contemplating your fate as the dogs and Rainsford appear on the far side of the chasm. You hear him yell about taking the long way around through the secret passage. You turn to run into the hunting grounds and soon find yourself at the entrance of a giant labyrinth.

next

Near the gate you see several arrows that appear to tell you the way out. You only have a matter of seconds to memorize them as you head into the maze. If your hunch is right, only one will lead you to the exit, whil the others will lead to dead ends, and your probable death.

You can hear the dogs right behind you. You have to go now!

Enter the maze

The Hunt

Your heart sinks as you turn to face a dead end. You turn to run the other direction only to see the vicious dogs barking and growling as they run straight toward you. Rainsford and Zaroff were right. You are either a hunter or the huntee; there is no in between.

Try again

You charge out of the maze and run toward your boat. You catch a glimpse of the dogs running onto the dock as your boat takes off down the river. When the dock is almost out of site, you look down at the cutlass in your hand. Part of you wants revenge but would it be worth the risk?

Return to Kill Rainsford

Leave for Home

You decide that enough blood has been shed and the only way to stop the cycle of violence is to head home. Life doesn't have to be only about the hunters and the huntees, it can also simply be about co-existing. The End

You look up at the chateau with the cutlass in your hand. "You are right, Rainsford," you mutter under your breath. "There are only the hunters and the huntees." As you stride toward the chateau, you can feel the bloodlust rising inside, and you can already see your future stretching out before you. When one hunter falls, another must rise to take his place. Humans are the most dangerous game after all. The End

You shake your head, and try to remember.

return

The world is made up of two classes--the hunters and the huntees.

First, let me apologize for being untruthful with you, but I feared you wouldn't come if you knew Zaroff was really dead. Yes, I plan to hunt you at dawn, but I am sporting man. I have designed a series of puzzles for you to solve. If you can follow the clues that lead you back to your boat, I will allow you leave unharmed. However, if you can't solve it by nightfall, the hunt is on! Of course, before you can find your boat, you have to find a way out of this dungeon. You might want to check the lock near the door. I have left you a small torch to help you investigate. It should be as easy as ABC.
You are invited to discover the truth about Ship-Trap Island! Come by yourself and I will reveal everything to you about the true nature of man and what it means to hunt and be hunted-General Zaroff
