• Bellmead community began in the mid 1920s
• First school was called Bellmead, in honor of Belle Meade Farms, changed to La Vega Indipendent School District in 1927
• Bellmead is close to I-35 high way and to Baylor University, Texas State Technical College, and McClennan Community College
• Bellmead has a commuity center

Poverty and Parental Support

• 28% of famalies are below poverty line
• 29.9% of famalies have food stamps/ SNAP
• 42.1% above poverty line, no extra benefits

Challenges

Construction happening in front of school could pose challeneges for learning and teaching

This is the drop off and pick up for students because of construction going on in the front. This is right off a busy highway

Asset to Community

There is a gas station right next to the school among another gas station down the street and a couple of restuarants in the area.

Reflection

I believe that being raised in poverty could have a big impact on learning because some students may come to school hungry or unclean. Construction going on could have a negative impact on student learning and teachers being able to do their job because noise may be a factor. The demographic is most relevent becuase it shows the equity and inclusion of students within the school district.
