seguì nel 2001 quella del patrimonio
ambientale sottomarino.
L’opera dell’UNESCO non ha l’obiettivo
di favorire la preservazione e la
conoscenza di una cultura particolare,
bensì di tutte quante. Anche per questo
la sua attività non è stata accolta in
modo unanime, ma ha suscitato
dibattiti e anche dure prese di
posizione da parte dei governi, a
conferma che il suo ruolo non è
convenzionale.
