I micenei furono una delle grandi civiltà che si svilupparono sulle coste del mar Mediterraneo.

Quella micenea fu infatti un'arte prevalentemente ispirata dalla guerra. I fastosi palazzi cretesi furono sostituiti da costruzioni robuste, circondate da enormi cinte murarie di fortificazione, realizzate con una serie di blocchi di pietra irregolari e collocate sulla parte elevata della città (acropoli).
Il campo più produttivo fu certamente quello dell'arte orafa. Suggestive sono le grandissime maschere funerarie in oro massiccio, come quella di Agamennone.

Il minotauro è una figura mitologica greca che aveva le fattezze di un toro antropomorfo: metà uomo e metà toro. Storia, tra mito e leggenda
