MARIA ALEJANDRA BUITRAGO
My Childhood
I was born in Bucaramanga on November 25, 2004, in the early morning hours. Since I was little, I lived with my mother, my brother, my aunt, and my grandmother before she passed away. We were very close. My aunt enjoyed watching investigative programs like CSI, which was her favorite show. When I had time, I watched it with her and told her I loved it. I wanted to investigate like that, to find the truth and to know what happened after those events. Since then, I became interested in investigation and forensics. Over the years, I loved finding the reasons behind things, solving problems, and if something didn’t add up, I investigated until I discovered the truth.
Studies and Experience
I studied at INEM and my favorite subject was commerce. But I loved it even more when we were given projects to investigate and solve situations. Over time, I was able to gain more knowledge, tricks, and shortcuts to find information more quickly and learn things more efficiently. From there, I truly discovered what my vocation was and what I wanted to do professionally in my life. My friends also used to tell me, ‘I need to know this’ or ‘this is almost impossible to find,’ and I managed to get the information and give them the data they needed in such an incredible way that they couldn’t even believe it. They even called me ‘FBI friend
A Special Moment
Since I was very little, I really liked watching the whole procedure they followed when there was a murder. They had to gather information, create hypotheses, enter the crime scene, and collect evidence to understand what happened, how it happened, and solve it. As the years went by, it became my favorite show, and I never missed an episode. I used to say, ‘I want to be part of that.’ Through a scholarship, I was able to make it happen, because it was an expensive career that I couldn’t afford. Something that once was a dream is now a reality, and I’m deeply grateful to life and to God. That is my unique moment
