Good heath and well being

  • This presentation is about my advocacy plan for Good Health and Well-Being, which is Goal 3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Health is a basic human right, and without it, people cannot live full lives or reach their potential. My goal is to show why health matters and how we can improve access to healthcare and healthy living for everyone.

Introduction

  • Health is the foundation of everything we do. Without good health, children can’t focus in school, adults can’t work productively, and communities can’t thrive. This advocacy plan highlights why it’s so important to address healthcare challenges at the global, national, and local levels, and how small steps can make a big difference.

Why It Matters

  • Millions lack access to affordable healthcare worldwide.
  • Chronic and infectious diseases are leading threats.
  • Around the world, millions of people still lack access to affordable healthcare. Diseases that could be prevented or treated often end up costing lives. Both chronic illnesses like diabetes and cancer and infectious diseases like malaria and HIV continue to harm families. This shows why we must take health seriously as a global issue.

Global Problem

  • Chronic illnesses: heart disease, cancer, diabetes.
  • Infectious diseases: HIV, malaria, tuberculosis.
  • Mental health struggles rising globally.
  • Globally, chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are the leading causes of death. Infectious diseases like HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis remain common in many developing nations. Mental health challenges are also rising everywhere, but stigma and lack of services leave many without support. These global health issues demand stronger advocacy and solutions.

National Problem (U.S.)

  • Chronic diseases cause major deaths.
  • Mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Healthcare is not equally accessible.
  • In the United States, chronic diseases like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes cause major health concerns. Mental health and substance abuse have also become national crises, with many people not able to get the treatment they need. Even though the U.S. has advanced medical care, not everyone has equal access, especially in low-income or rural communities.

Local Problem (Broward County)

  • High rates of heart disease, diabetes, HIV.
  • Rising childhood obesity.
  • Lack of health insurance for many residents.
  • In Broward County, many families face serious health challenges. There are high rates of diabetes, heart disease, and HIV, as well as rising childhood obesity. Many residents still don’t have health insurance, making it hard to afford doctor visits or medication. This proves that even in a developed community, people still struggle with access to care.

One of the most important targets of Goal 3 is to ensure universal health coverage. This means people should be able to see doctors, get medicine, and receive treatment without worrying about whether they can afford it. Access to healthcare should be a right, not a privilege..

SDG Target 1

SDG Target 2

Another key target is to prevent and treat substance abuse, including drug and alcohol misuse. Addiction damages lives, families, and entire communities. By improving education, treatment options, and prevention programs, we can reduce the harm caused by substance abuse and create healthier communities.

Media Example 1

  • One example of media that represents health and well-being is an image of a heartbeat line ending in a heart with two people holding hands. This shows that health is not just about the body but also about emotional support and compassion. Both physical and mental well-being are important for a full, healthy life.

Media Example 2

Another example is a video explaining Sustainable Development Goal 3. It shows how diseases, maternal deaths, and lack of vaccines affect communities worldwide. The video also highlights that good health includes mental wellness and fair access to medicine. It helps people understand why this global goal is essential.

A local example is the presence of hospitals like Broward Health and Memorial Healthcare. These organizations provide important medical services to the community, giving people both treatment and peace of mind. Having strong healthcare systems in place shows how communities can support well-being on a local level.

Organizations Helping

Many organizations are working toward better health. The World Health Organization provides global leadership and guidance. Doctors Without Borders offers care in war zones and disaster areas. The Gates Foundation funds research and disease prevention. The CDC helps track and fight outbreaks worldwide. Together, these groups show how advocacy can lead to real change.

  • 1. Affordable healthcare access
  • 2. Healthy lifestyle education
  • 3. Funding for clinics
  • 4. Vaccination programs
  • 5. Maternal/child healthcare
  • 6. Mental health support
  • 7. Emergency response systems
  • 8. Partnerships for resources

AI Solutions

My Focus

While many solutions are needed, I believe affordable healthcare, preventive care, and mental health support are the most urgent in my community. Too many families struggle with medical costs, and many people still feel ashamed to ask for help with mental health. These are the areas where advocacy can make the biggest difference.

Steps Individuals Can Take

  • 1. Practice healthy habits
  • 2. Get regular checkups
  • 3. Talk about mental health
  • 4. Volunteer or donate
  • 5. Share health resources
  • 6. Advocate for better services

PSA Strategy

  • Health is more than avoiding illness—it’s living a full life.
  • PSA highlights inequalities and solutions.
  • My public service announcement is designed to grab attention by showing that health is more than just avoiding sickness. It’s about living a full, productive life. By sharing real examples and highlighting solutions, my PSA encourages people to care about this issue and take action to make communities healthier.

Call to Action

  • The call to action is simple: support local healthcare efforts and advocate for fairer systems. Even small efforts, like attending a health event, sharing resources online, or supporting a local clinic, can help families access better care and make communities stronger.

Presentation Purpose

  • The purpose of this presentation is to explain why health and well-being should be a top priority. Good health affects every part of life, from education to work to family. When people are healthy, they can achieve more, and when healthcare is fair, communities grow stronger and more equal.

Closing

  • In closing, good health and well-being is not just a personal issue—it’s a global right. Everyone deserves the chance to live a healthy and fulfilling life. By working together and taking action, we can build stronger communities and a better future for everyone.
