Introduction
Healing Heroes is a social media app made to support veterans dealing with PTSD, anxiety, and the challenges of coming back to civilian life. The idea is to create a safe and private space where veterans can connect, talk, and find real help from people who understand what they’re going through. The app has a few main sections:
- Forms: where veterans can connect and share their experiences.
- Resources: to find doctors, book appointments, and get access to mental health support.
- Messages: a direct chat feature so veterans can talk privately with others.
- Travel and Food: offers exclusive discounts on meals and trips to make life a little easier.
Overall, Healing Heroes isn’t just another app, it’s a place built for community, support, and healing.
🎯 Target Audience
- New Veterans: Those just returning to civilian life who may feel lost or disconnected.
- Experienced Veterans: those who’ve been out of service for a while but still deal with trauma, stress, or isolation.
Improvements
- Change the color scheme to something that feels more connected to veterans.
- Rename the “Massanger” tab to “Messages.
- Update the bottom navigation bar from blue to red to match the patriotic theme and make the design stand out more.

👁️ Eye Tracking Study
We conducted an eye tracking study with three participants using the Healing Heroes app, and here’s what we found:
- Participant 1: Found the overall layout clear and easy to navigate, their gaze followed the intended path.
Suggestion: Adjust the background color to better reflect a veteran theme.
- Participant 2: Reported that navigation was simple and intuitive.
Suggestion: Rename “Messenger” to “Messages” for smoother flow.
- Participant 3: Liked the app’s layout but had questions about the Travel tab, which provides discounted travel options for veterans.
