How DO I TAKE NOTES?
How DO I TAKE NOTES ?
When it comes to studying, I’ve learned that I perform better on exams when I review my notes and the analyses of the readings. They help me recall the class discussions and what my professors emphasized. Over the years, I’ve developed my own note-taking method. It’s not perfect and still needs refining, but it works well enough for me.

HOW DO I STUDY FOR EXAMS?
When I study for exams, I usually start by reviewing my notes carefully, since they remind me of what was said in class and help me focus on the main points. After that, I create study guides where I organize the most important information in a clear way. That helps me to summarize the material and allows me to test myself and feel more prepared for the exam!

Review the online and handwritten notes
Create a study guide
Reviewing it helps me understand what to study and find in my notes.
With my notes, I create digital study guides. I always use specific phrases that make me remember the topics

Practicing with a friend always allows me to test myself
EXAM tips
With the study guide, I try to connect the topics because sometimes the exams are written, and that helps me answer better.
Resources
Handwritten or online notes?
I take notes both in my notebook and on a computer. Writing in my notebook helps me study later, while typing lets me keep up when the class moves fast. I then organize everything in Notion, my favorite app, where I keep folders for each class. Sometimes I use Quizziz or Wayground to create study quizzes/cards.
ORDER
CLEAR DELIMITATION OF TOPICS
When I take notes, I make sure to clearly write the topic of the lesson as it appears in the syllabus. When studying, this can make a huge difference because later you can complement your notes with information you find online by writingnthe topic name in the internet space bar
I always try to use one page per topic in class. Everything feels more organized and is easier to read
EXTRA
HABITS
Some things that I try to include:
I’ve come across study tips that recommend writing down the questions asked during class. Because of that, I try to write the questions I hear. Also, I have seen that it is better to paraphrase the gist of the class than to copy the content from the slides presented. That has really helped me retain and understand the material.
STYLE
The use of colors, different pens, highlighters, etc.
Did you know that? "The color-coding notetaking technique ranked first among the seven techniques to activate memory retention" (Diachenko et al., 2022).
Since middle school, my class notes have been very creative. Using color-coded methods has helped me understand the concepts better. Now, in college, I continue this practice with red and blue pens, as well as highlighters.
