Responding to Offers

You will begin to receive offers from the universities that you have applied to study at. You will need to decide which offers you want to reject and which you want to accept. You can accept a 'firm' choice and an 'insurance' choice.

Firm and insurance choices

Firm choice: University and course you want to attend Aspirational, but realistic- you are confident you can achieve the grades required

Insurance choice: Your back-up choice, but you still want to attend You should be very confident of getting these grades

Key information and top tips

Do I need to submit anything else for my applications?

What happens when I select my choices?

Universities will sometimes ask for further information. Missed emails and incorrect information can lead to automatic rejections.

When you select your firm and insurance choices, you reject your other offers.Make sure you are extremely confident of achieving your grades for your insurance.

Check your emails and messages regularly for any requests from universities.
Ensure you are happy with both of your offers - you may end up at your insurance choice!

Alex and Klara's firm choices should be aspirational but they should be confident that they can achieve these grades!

An insurance choice should also be a course and university they would be happy to attend.

Factors to Consider

Ask yourself about...

If you have multiple offers, it can be difficult to choose for your firm and insurance

  • Grades: are you confident of getting the results you need?
  • Accommodation: where will you live?
  • Budget: how much will you spend?
  • Location: where is the university?
  • Course: what's the course like?
  • Support: what services are available at the university?
