Neon billboards illuminate the throngs of people making their way through Times Square, a town square and tourist destination in the heart of New York City. Over 26 million people visit Times Square every year and 50,000 people every day, making it a staple of American culture and a must-see destination for tourists. Times Square has become particularly iconic due to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve Rockin’ Eve Countdown. Descending from Times Square, the 11,875-pound crystal ball drop signifies the beginning of a New Year. As confetti falls from the sky, couples kiss each other at midnight. The New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square is a once in a lifetime sight.
