Trudy Ederle survived measles after the doctor said she would probably die
News reports tell of a shipwreck where most of the women died because they couldn't swim. The mother decides to enroll her children in swimming lessons, despite the father's objections.
trudy wanted to swim but her dad didn't let her because it wasn't appropriate for girls. So to annoy him and make him let her swim she started playing the ukelele all the time.
her dad finally agrees and he teaches her how to swim at the pier with a rope
The mother finds a secret women's swimming club and enrolls the girls, in exchange for Trudy taking care of the coal, since she wasn't a good swimmer.

In the early 1920s, she began competing, winning multiple awards and setting a total of 29 national and world records between 1921 and 1925.
She went on to compete in the Paris Olympics, where she won her first gold medal, in addition to two bronze medals in individual competition.
Trudy attempted to cross the English Channel, but her team didn't trust her and forced her to swim slowly; moreover, the coach got her drunk so she wouldn't continue swimming.
Then she tried again with her sister Meg without outsiders. She swam for more than 14 hours in cold waters, jellyfishes and, with great effort and even though she got lost, she managed to reach England, becoming the first woman to cross the channel.
