Unit 8 The passive to describe situations and to report opinions
The stative passive describes the state or condition of something as a result of a past action, not the action itself. It is formed with: be + past participle, but it expresses a state, not an action.
Active sentences. They are sentences in the active voice that convey what people think, say, believe, or opine, using a clear subject (people, many, experts, teachers, friends)
Passive voice to describe situations.
Reporting opinions
They are English phrases that we use to report what people believe or say, without mentioning any specific person.
The passive voice is used when the action is more important than the person performing it.
