Unit 8 The passive to describe situations and to report opinions
The stative passive describes the state or condition of something as a result of a past action, not the action itself. It is formed with: be + past participle, but it expresses a state, not an action.
Active sentences. They are sentences in the active voice that convey what people think, say, believe, or opine, using a clear subject (people, many, experts, teachers, friends)
Passive voice to describe situations.
Reporting opinions
They are English phrases that we use to report what people believe or say, without mentioning any specific person.
The passive voice is used when the action is more important than the person performing it.

A humble girl lives in a small village. She is said to be very intelligent, even though she speaks little. Her efforts are believed to inspire other children around her. She is thought to have a natural talent for learning languages. Her kindness is known to change the mood of everyone she meets. Although her family is poor, she is expected to succeed in the future. Her story is considered to be an example of hope.
